students agri programs

Tolsia High School Agriculture Program, led by Instructor Wade Cyrus, recently travelled to Maysville, Ky. They visited the Rip’s Farm Center and the local Cattle Auction . This was a rather unique field trip for both the Agriculture Program and the Tolsia High Broadcasting Program, led by Instructor Justin Prince, as well.

The two Career-Technical Education Programs travelled to Maysville, Ky to participate in an auction to purchase a steer. The steer would be added to the Tolsia High Agriculture Program and move onto the complex at the school The school offers an Animal Production emphasis that students can choose as part of their program. The Broadcasting Program was collaborating to do a documentary project about the process of the purchase of the steer and the trip to obtain it.

Mr. Wade Cyrus, Tolsia High Agriculture Instructor said, “This has been a wonderful project that students across program areas have participated in. We also have included some of our community partners as well. The students and their Simulated Workplace Company, Rebel Ranch, handled all the steps to make it successful. It will help students to better draw real-world connections with their learning and give them practical applications of the lessons learned in the program.

We continue to work to get our students College and/or Career Ready when they leave Tolsia High School.”
